About

Mingardo : The Metal Carpentry

Mingardo Ilario founded Mingardo Blacksmith Workshop in 1970, after over twenty years’ experience in the metal processing field.
The production was initially focused on simple blacksmith works for the construction industry. Over the time, it has become more refined, enabling the company to collaborate with internationally renowned companies and architects: from the first collaborations with architect Carlo Scarpa to the more recent commissions for Museo del Novecento in Milan, Parco della Musica in Florence, and Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.
Over the years, the Workshop has achieved great results, with the production of unique metal products, all hand-wrought by a highly skilled team of specialized artisans. Nowadays, it is highly regarded in the local artisan field for its high-end refined finishing touches and details, and for its know-how

Daniele Mingardo and the collection.

Daniele Mingardo has been working in his father’s workshop since he was 18. In 2013, when he was only 25 and 40 years after the opening of the workshop, he launched his own brand, Mingardo, in order to combine his passion for craftsmanship with his love for design.
He has been creating small batches of numbered collections of home furniture and accessories where metals are the star, often accompanied by other materials such as wood. Exclusive, contemporary objects are crafted with precision and high quality finishing.

With his brand MINGARDO Daniele made his debut as an independent manufacturer of hand-made and numbered design objects during the Milan Design Week 2013, at the age of 25.
Daniele, born on 8th June 1988, was raised in his father’s workshop, founded in 1970 in Monselice (PD).
The decision to create his own brand as manufacturer of numbered design objects comes from the desire to overcome the business model of traditional craft by developing an innovative business project able to transfer artisan al skills to contemporary metal objects designed by emerging and established designers.
Thanks to Federica Biasi’s professional contribution, the new art director at the helm of the company, Mingardo seeks, in its numbered series, refinement and an agreement of the new collections with the new stylistic direction. Design becomes icon, lines elegant and refined, brand communication stronger and more defined. Knowledge and traditional craftsmanship (the know-how coming from the “Faber”, the maker) merge with the contemporary design ideals, creating a self-produced collection that is named after its creator: Designer Faber.

A collection that aims at emphasizing the sign and the iconography of the products, combining matter and craftsmanship.
Each product is unique: art works in which the artisan and the artist assume equal positions and find a common ground in virtuous objects that glorify the Italian history, renowned for its precious handcraft works and the excellence of its design.
